Hi Guys, it is Amelia here from The Knitted Dingo. I’m super excited to be bringing you another pattern. This is an easy pattern to start colourwork and it will let you play around with different colour combinations. I would love to see the colours you choose, tag me on instagram! I also need to work on my photo skills (bear with me)

I will also be writing a pattern for mittens to match. So watch this space!

Abbreviations/Tools:

Pattern:

With MC cast on 80 stitches, join stitches in round and PM to indicate start of round.

Round 1-20: 1×1 ribbing. This makes a folded brim, if you want a short brim just knit ten rows ribbing.

Round 21-24: Continue with MC.

You will now knit the chart pattern, read it from the bottom up, right to left. Each square is a stitch and each line is a row. Remember when you carry the floats, to carry them every few stitches. If I have a bit of a gap between when I will use my contrasting yarn next, I tend to carry it every 2 or 3 stitches. This stops a really long floaty piece of yarn catching on your ear.

These next three rounds are the start of the chart.

Round 25-26: Attach CC, do not break MC. Knit both rounds in CC. Remember when you start a new round, just make sure you carry the yarn up the back of the work ready for when you will next need to use the other colour. This is the first two lines of the chart complete.

Round 27: Knit round with MC, do not break CC.

Round 28-39: Continue with the chart. (14 rounds total)

Round 40-41: Knit with MC.

Round 42-55: Knit the chart. (14 rounds)

Round 56: Break CC and knit round with MC.

Now you will start the crown decreases.
