Lightweight Multicolored Tassel Spring Shawl Crochet Pattern by BrennaAnnHandmade

For this month’s FREE written pattern + YouTube video tutorial, I wanted to create something super fun & colorful, as well as lightweight & wearable for spring.  The pretty colors in this lovely soft, “YarnArt Dancing Baby” multicolored yarn, inspired the design for this tasseled crochet shawl! 🙂

Finished Dimentions: 19″ x 60″

Materials needed:

3 skeins of YarnArt Dancing Baby yarn

A 6.5mm crochet hook

A ruler

A pair of scissors

A 4.5″ x 4.5″ piece of cardboard

 

Abbreviations:

Ch = chain

St = stitch

Tr = triple crochet

 

Directions:

Row 1: Ch 66, and put 1 tr in the 4th ch from hook. Then place 1 tr in the next ch, and in each ch across the entire row.

Row 2: Ch 4 and turn. Skip the 1st st of the row, and put 1 tr into the next st. *Ch 1, skip the next st, and put 1 tr in the next st. Repeat from * across the entire row, ending with 1 tr.

Row 3: Ch 3 and turn. *Place 1 tr in the (ch 1, skip 1, 1 tr) space from the previous row, then put 1 tr on top of the 1st tr from the previous row. Repeat from * across the entire row, ending with 1 tr.

Rows 4-63: Repeat rows 2-3, alternating. Cut yarn & weave in all ends.

Mini Tassel Accents:

Step 1: Take your 4.5″ x 4.5″ piece of cardboard, and wrap the yarn around it 30 times.

Step 2: Cut the yarn, and tie a second, 8″ piece of yarn to the top of the yarn bundle as pictured.

Step 3: Now, cut all of the yarn at the bottom of the yarn bundle as pictured.

Step 4: Take 1 more piece of yarn, (8″ long) and tie it 1″ down from the top of the tassel.

Step 5: Cut all of the yarn at the bottom of the tassel evenly, and attach to 1 corner of the shawl as pictured.

Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5, three more times, by attaching 1 tassel to each of the remaining 3 corners.

Textured Knit Dishcloth / Washcloth Pattern by BrennaAnnHandmade

Happy April everyone! The weather is slowly starting to get warmer, so you know what that means – cotton knits! 😉 Let’s start off with a super simple + practical item to hand-knit for spring, with these pretty, textured knit dishcloths / washcloths, using this lovely chunky DMC Natura XL Just Cotton yarn from hobiumyarns.com

Here’s what you’ll need:

Materials:

1 ball DMC Natura XL Just Cotton yarn

1 pair 7mm straight knitting needles

A pair of scissors

A small crochet hook for weaving in ends (I used a 6mm)

 

Directions:

Cast on 20 stitches

Row 1: Knit 1 stitch, then Purl 1 stitch. Repeat this pattern (K1, P1) across the entire row.

Row 2: Purl 1 stitch, then Knit 1 stitch. Repeat this pattern (P1, K1) across the entire row.

Rows 3-33: Repeat rows 1-2, alternating.

Row 34: Bind off in pattern.

Use the crochet hook & scissors to weave in all ends + trim.
