Hi everyone, Brenna from BrennaAnnHandmade here! Today I’ll be showing you how to crochet a simple, chunky sweater / cardigan with HobiumYarn’s lovely YarnArt Country Tweed yarn.
Are you ready to go? Great, let’s get started! 🙂
*Pattern fits women’s size small-medium as written, but can be easily adjusted by increasing or decreasing starting chain + number of rows to the body of the sweater*

Materials needed:
9 skiens of YarnArt Tweed Country yarn from HobiumYarns found HERE
A 10mm crochet hook
Scissors
A Ruler
A tapestry needle
Abreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
dc = double crochet
fpdc = front post double crochet
bpdc = back post double crochet
Directions:
Row 1: Make a slip knot, and ch 70. Then, put 1 dc into the 3rd ch from hook, and in each st across.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Skip the 1st st, and put 1 dc into the next st, and in each st across.
Rows 3-35: Repeat row 2. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Seaming the Sweater
Step 1: Fold the rectangle width-wise as pictured, and thread the tapestry needle with the long tail.
Next, sew the sides together from the outside-in, leaving a 7″ arm hole. Then knot, weave in ends, and cut the excess yarn.
Creating the Collar
Lay the seamed sweater down as pictured.
Row 1: Using the hook to attach the yarn to the bottom edge of the sweater, ch 2. (creates the 1st dc)
Then, put 107 dc evenly around the entire collar. (108 dc total including the beginning ch 2)
Sl st to the beginning ch 2 to connect the round.
Row 2: Ch 2, *1 fpdc, 1 bpdc. Repeat from * around the entire collar, ending with 1 fpdc before attaching with a sl st to the beginning ch 2 to connect.
Cut yarn, and weave in ends.
Creating the Sleeves
Step 1:
Row 1: Using the hook to attach the yarn to the bottom inside edge of the 1st sleeve as pictured, ch 2 (creates 1st dc).
Then, put 29 dc evenly around the entire armhole. (30 dc total including the beginning ch 2)
Sl st to the beginning ch 2 to connect.
Row 2: Ch 2, *1 fpdc, 1 bpdc. Repeat from * around the entire sleeve, ending with 1 fpdc before attaching with a sl st to the beginning ch 2 to connect. (see row 2 of creating the collar for picture references)
Rows 3-4: Repeat rows 1-2. Cut yarn, and weave in ends.
Step 2:
Repeat rows 1-4 on the other arm hole to create a 2nd sleeve.
Ta da! You’re all finished! 🙂
