Hi guys, Amelia here from @theknitteddingo (instagram) I’m super excited to bring you guys my first free pattern using this gorgeous yarn from Hobium.

WHAT YOU NEED:

6mm Circular needles.

Yarn: Kartopu Merino Knitting Yarn, Purple

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Gauge: 4 sts x 5 rows per inch

C3F  –Slip three stitches to your cable needle, hold cable needle at front of work. Knit three stitches from left needle. Knit three stitches from cable needle.

P: Purl

K: Knit

K2tog: Knit two stitches together.

RECIPE:

Cast on 70 stitches with the long tail cast on method.

You will now start the set up row knit until you are 12 stitches from the end of the round. Purl two, knit six, purl two, knit 2, place stitch marker (this stitch marker will let you know the start of the round). Join round. If you wish to make the cable panel easier to spot when knitting you can place a stitch marker at the start of the P2 and at the end of the P2.

Round 1 – 5: Knit all rounds, continuing to implement the P2, K6, P2,K2 with the last 12 stitches.

Round 6: Knit to cable panel, P2, C3F, P2, K2.

Repeat rounds 1-6 four more times.

See photos below on how to knit the cable.

You will now pick up the brim on round 25.

Fold the material so that the brim sits behind the stitches already on the needle. As you knit round 25 you will knit into the loop on your needle but continue to push your needle through the loop on the cast on edge. You will then knit these two loops as one stitch. Continue until you reach the cable panel. This will work the same as the knit loops, however when you purl, you will purl through the cast on loop first and then into the loop on the needle.

Round 26 – 29: Knit all rounds, continuing to implement the P2, K6, P2, K2 cable panel.

Round 30: Knit to cable panel, P2, C3F, P2, K2.

Round 31 – 35: Knit all rounds, continuing to implement the P2, K6, P2, K2 cable panel.

Round 36: Knit to cable panel, P2, C3F, P2, K2.

Repeat rounds 31 – 36 three more times.

You should have in total 60 rounds, included in the folded brim.
