Hi everyone! Lori here again. Today I will be bringing you my last FREE pattern of the year! To close out the year, I will be bringing you the pattern to make a newborn Santa hat! Have no fear! If you don’t have kids, this hat makes the perfect Christmas tree topper! Let’s get started.

Materials

1 skein Kartopu Baby Moon yarn in white

1 skein Kartopu Woolly Baby in red

6mm 16-inch circular knitting needles

Pom Pom maker

Tapestry needle

Stitch marker

 

Stitch Key

K- knit

P- purl

K2tog- knit 2 together

 

PATTERN

Cast on 42 stitches with your white yarn.

Making sure your stitches aren’t twisted, join yarn and place stitch marker.

Working in the round, make a K1,P1 ribbing. Continue until your ribbing measures 3 inches.

Cut your white yarn.

Switching to your red yarn work a K stitch around.

K for 21 rounds.

*K 9 stitches, K2tog* repeat around

K all stitches for next round.

*K 8 stitches, K2tog* repeat around

K all stitches for next round.

*K 7 stitches, K2tog* repeat around

K all stitches for next round.

*K 6 stitches, K2tog* repeat around

K all stitches for next round.

*K 5 stitches, K2tog* repeat around

K all stitches for next round.

*K 4 stitches, K2tog* repeat around

K all stitches for next round.

**you may need to switch to double pointed needles.

Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Weave your tail through all remaining stitches. Pull tight and sew hole closed.

Weave in ends.

Make and add a Pom Pom.

And you’re done!
