For my 6th pattern tutorial for Hobium, I decided to design a super fun, lightweight cotton crop top for spring! I suggest wearing this crop top with a tank top underneath, and either shorts, crop pants, pants, or even a skirt on the bottom! 😉
Are you ready to get started? Great, let’s go!
Fits Size: Teen’s / Women’s Small
Finished Dimensions: (laying flat)
18″ long x 13″ wide
Notes:
1. To alter pattern sizing, add or decrease starting chain (45) in increments of 2.
2. To make the top longer, crochet additional rows in pattern.
Materials:
2 Skeins of MILANO Cotton Sport yarn (you may need additional skeins if planning to increase the size of the pattern)
Kartopu 6mm plastic crochet hook
Scissors
Ruler
Large Eye Tapestry Needle (for sewing top & weaving in ends)
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
Directions:
(Make 2)
Ch 45
Row 1: Make an dc by:
Step 1: Yarn over
Step 2: Insert hook into 3rd ch from hook
Step 3: Yarn over
Step 4: Pull through
Step 5: Yarn over again
Step 6: Pull through 2 loops
Step 7: Yarn over 1 more time
Step 8: Pull through the last 2 loops
*Repeat by putting 1 dc in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn work. Put 1 dc in the 2nd stitch from the previous row below, and in each stitch across. Don’t forget that last dc!
Row 3: Repeat row 2.
Row 4: Ch 3, turn work. *Skip 1, dc in next stitch. Repeat from * across row.
Rows 5-7: Repeat Row 2, by putting 1 dc in each space & dc from previous row.
Row 8: Repeat Row 4.
Rows 9-11: Repeat Row 2.
Row 12: Repeat Row 4.
Rows 13-15: Repeat Row 2.
Row 16: Repeat Row 4.
Rows 17-19: Repeat Row 2.
Row 20: Repeat Row 4.
Rows 21-23: Repeat Row 2.
Row 24: Repeat Row 4.
Rows 25-27: Repeat Row 2.
Row 28: Repeat Row 4.
Rows 29-31: Repeat Row 2.
Cut yarn, leaving an extra long tail to sew up top.
Finishing: Using the long tails of yarn threaded through the tapestry needle, put the 2 rectangles together and sew 2″ in on each side of the top of the garment.
Next, thread another long piece of yarn through the tapestry needle, and sew up the sides of the garment, from the bottom to 7″ from the top (sewing 11″ total)
Weave in all ends.
All finished! 🙂

3 April 2020Thank you for the nice easy pattern. My youngest son (24 yrs. old) just met a very nice young lady. We'll see how things go and she may get one as a gift from me. Thanks, Sharan

11 April 2020Hi - quick question - on the rows where you skip a DC, is there a chain between these skipped stitches? Wouldn’t the row pull a bit?

6 July 2020I just made an adapted version with a v neck. Yes there’s a chain between each double crochet every fourth row.
