Brenna from BrennaAnnHandmade here! For this May’s free pattern / tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a super fun & cute, cotton baby blanket! (Perfect for Spring / Summer!)
Let’s get started, shall we? 🙂
Finished Dimensions: Approximately 28″ X 35″
2 Skeins Apple Cotton in “Off Cream” (Color 1)
2 Skeins Apple Cotton in “Dark Mustard Yellow” (Color 2)
2 Skeins Apple Cotton in “White-Black” (Color 3)
6mm Kartopu Plastic crochet hook
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
(Color 1) Ch 95
Row 1: Make an dc by:
Step 1: Yarn over
Step 2: Insert hook into 3rd ch from hook
Step 3: Yarn over
Step 4: Pull through
Step 5: Yarn over again
Step 6: Pull through 2 loops
Step 7: Yarn over 1 more time
Step 8: Pull through the last 2 loops
*Repeat steps 1-8 across the entire row, by putting 1 dc in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn work.
Put 1 dc in the 2nd stitch from the previous row below, and in each stitch across.
(Don’t forget that last stitch of the row!)
Rows 3-10: Repeat Row 2.
Now we are going to switch to the next color. When it is time to switch colors, crochet the last dc as normal until it is time to pull through the last 2 loops. Then, instead of pulling through the same color, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops with the next color in the pattern. Ch 2, and work your next dc in pattern. (See below)
Rows 11-20: (Switch to Color 2) Repeat Row 2.
Rows 21-30: (Switch to Color 3) Repeat Row 2.
Rows 31-40: (Switch to Color 1) Repeat Row 2.
Rows 41-50: (Switch to Color 2) Repeat Row 2.
Rows 51-60: (Switch to Color 3) Repeat Row 2.
Cut yarn, and weave in all ends.
All finished! 🙂
