Hi everyone! Brenna from BrennaAnnHandmade here, welcome to my 4th pattern / tutorial for Hobium. Today I’m going to show you how to make a textured, lightweight, knitted bow headband – absolutely perfect for spring! Let’s get started. 🙂
*Finished headband will fit an average women’s 21-22″ head circumference size.
Materials:
1 Skein Diva Natural Cotton
1 pair 5mm Prym Bamboo Straight Knitting Needles
A small Crochet Hook (For weaving in ends)
A Large Eye Tapestry Needle (For seaming headband)
Scissors
Abbreviations:
K – Knit
P – Purl
Â
Directions:
 (Headband)
Step 1: cast on 10 stitches evenly onto one of the knitting needles, using the long-tail cast on method.
Step 2: (Row 1) K1, P1 across. Turn.
Step 3: (Rows 2-74) Repeat row 1
Step 4: (Row 75) Bind off in pattern & cut yarn, leaving an extra long tail (about 2 feet long) for sewing together headband & attaching the bow later.
(Bow)
Step 1: cast on 20 stitches evenly onto one of the knitting needles, using the long-tail cast on method.
(Following the same pattern as the headband above)
Step 2: (Row 1) K1, P1 across. Turn.
Step 3: (Rows 2-19) Repeat row 1
Step 4: (Row 20) Bind off in pattern & cut yarn. Weave in the ends using the small crochet hook.
(To Finish Headband)
Step 1: Using the extra long tail & tapestry needle, sew the two ends of the headband together. Remove tapestry needle, but do not cut yarn yet.
Step 2: Place the middle of the bow flat onto the seam of the headband, and cinch together in the middle to form the shape of the bow.
Step 7: Now use the long tail of remaining yarn to wrap around the middle (cinched part) of the bow until it is secure.
Step 8: Flip the bow to the back, then tie the 2 tail ends together and cut.
All finished!
