This crochet star garland is quick to crochet and easy to customize, too! Our tutorial below shows you the steps to create crocheted stars, then attach them to a simple single-crochet string – feel free to sub in your favorite holiday shapes if you prefer!
Materials
- La Mia Lumina in Copper – 1 skein
- 1 Tulip US E/3.5mm crochet hook
- Prym Wool Tapestry Needles
- Kartopu Fancy Hobby Scissors
Abbreviations
ch: chain
sl: slip
DC: Double Crochet (find instructions here)
Instructions
To make each star (garland is shown with 6):
Ch 5, sl 1 stitch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, DC twice in ring, *ch 2, DC three times in ring, repeat from * 3 more times.
Sl 1 stitch to close rnd. Sl st across next 2 stitches to get to next ch space.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, DC twice in ch space, ch 3, DC three times in same space, ch 1, *DC three times in next ch space, ch 3, DC three times in same ch space, ch 1, repeat from * three more times.
Sl 1 stitch to close rnd. Sl st across next 2 stitches to get to next ch space.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, DC three times in ch space, ch 3, DC four times in same ch space, ch 1, DC once in next space, ch 1, *DC four times in next space, ch 1, DC four times in same space, ch 1, DC once in next space, ch 1, repeat from * three more times.
Sl 1 stitch to close rnd. Break yarn.
Once you have made your desired number of stars, weave in all ends before next step.
To create garland:
Ch 30, single crochet in top of first star to attach (see below), *Ch 25, single crochet in top of next star to attach, rep from * till all stars are attached, then ch 30.
Break yarn and weave in ends.
